It is a complex combination of selected strains of lactic acid producing bacteria and sugar releasing enzymes, designed to enhance the fermentation and produce better, more profitable silage.
Three strains of bacteria are used, as this has been shown to be the optimum to give coverage across the changing pH scale within the clamp. Four sugar releasing enzymes ensure sufficient "food" is available for those bacteria to thrive and multiply.
THE FAAS APPROVAL SCHEME
The UKASTA backed Forage Additive Approval Scheme is designed to help farmers by providing information on the effectiveness of each additive on animal and silo performance.
No biological additive has a better approval rating on the scheme than SiloAction, which has approval for:-

* Improved milk production
* Improved voluntary intake
* Improved Digestibility
* Improved efficiency of energy and protein utilisation
* Improved fermentation
* Reduced effluent
* Reduced ensiling losses
