Maize Varieties 2009
- Sapphire
The variety of choice for less favourable areas. Maturity class 8. Proven to perform - even in poor conditions, as seen in 2008. High yielding and early to harvest with one of the highest starch yields of the class 8-11 varieties on the NIAB list for less favourable areas.
- Kaspian
New in 2008, previously sold as K6005. One of the earliest ever varieties providing high feed value forage production in the most marginal areas. In a class of its own - Ultra Early - predicted to be Maturity Class 12.
- Kougar
New for 2009. Trials indicate that this variety will provide the ultimate combination of yield and maturity, pushing the boundaries in forage maize production. Predicted to be maturity class 10.
- Konsort
A reliable, early, high yielding maturity class 8 variety with very good early vigour and excellent standing power. First choice on the 2009 NIAB list with dry matter yield 106% of the controls, producing very early, uniform well filled cobs to give above average quality silage.
- Katy
New in 2008, maturity class 7, gives consistent performance combining yield and quality suitable for all mainstream areas.
- ES Ballard
A high yielding maturity class 7 variety, suited to the more favourable areas. One of the best varieties in its class for starch yield with excellent standing power.
- Kroesus
A proven consistent performer for favourable areas. Extremely high yielding, maturity class 7 with above average starch levels.
